Carlos Delgado must go..

..to the bottom of the batting order, right next to his buddy Luis. He is killing us. And it took Willie way too long to realize that last year and drop him in the order; he needs to act sooner this year.

Well, Jorge Sosa is done. Much like the 2nd half of '07, he continues to stink.

I guarantee we do not win this division if our starters do not average at least 7 innings per game. We simply cannot have a situation where only Santana can go 8 innings, and all other starters s*** the bed after 5 innings.

I have to say the writeup on the Geek today echoes two main points I started to write about yesterday but abandoned.

Point 1: Willie is clearly back to his use of musical chairs to form our daily lineup. Even when one factors in injuries and the fact that you'd like to give your regulars some occasional rest, I believe he still shuffles the lineup too frequently and makes poor choices. Sometimes you just can't afford to give a guy a day off if there are too many injuries out of the lineup. Yesterday was a perfect example.

Point 2: At some point one of more of our starters is going to have to be told that they are staying in the game for 7 innings, regardless of whether they are up to 140 pitches and losing 10-0. For the good of the bullpen these starters are going to have to eat innings once in a while, or learn how to develop an effective out pitch so they don't reach 100 pitches by inning 5.
