1. Why does Heilman suck so much this year? Is he contractually obligated to give up two runs every time he pitches?
2. Pagan and Church are really ripping it up. I wouldn't move Pagan from 2-hole when Castillo gets back, I'd bury Castillo and his miserable average at the bottom of the lineup.

Point #2 is especially key with Reyes hitting so poorly right now. We can't afford to keep having 2 outs, bases empty when Wright and Beltran come up to bat. That's guaranteeing no runs scored..
Heilman has done one thing right this season--sprained Jimmy Rollins' ankle.
Hopefully that is one of those injuries that lingers....hate that guy.
Pagan and Church have been money. These are the types of players I like to see in the outfield as opposed to some lumbering oaf that hits an occasional homer. If Willie wants to keep his job past Memorial Day, he'd better start using the dynamic abilities of this team as opposed to sitting on the bench like an AL manager...
I agree about Pagan and Church. The team has been sorely lacking production role players. If you look at the sox they have a bunch of guys in the lineup around ortiz and manny who are not superstars, but are solid role players who come through when it counts. The mets need those type of clutch players who get their hits with RISP, rather than in useless situations (2 outs, no one on). If you look at the Mets BA so far this year, you'd expect them to have scored a lot more runs. But the problem is they continue to hit in the wrong spots, and strand runners.
I wouldn't be shocked if Willie or Omar got canned during the season, IF the mets are more than 6-8 games out of first. I don't think it will happen, but I wouldn't be shocked.
Omar's not getting canned mid-season, regardless of what happens.
If the Mets head south in April and May, and fall more than 10 games under .500, you might see Willie eat it.
I'm not quite sure who is more to blame. I definitely have issues with some of Willie's strategy and tactics, especially bullpen use; his unwillingness to fight umps more often; batting philosophy; and excessive use of vets over younger players.
But, at the same time, nearly all of that would be moot if the team was at closer to full health. Omar is the one who assembled an old, injury-prone team, and does not seem to understand the rehab status of several of his players (Sanchez, El Duque, ...) So, IMO, if the Mets come up short again this year blame should be shared equally.
