Nice 11 inning win.
Three quick comments.
1. Fernando Tatis. Omar just knew it.
2. Great night for Duaner Sanchez. His fastball was popping. Tht had him at 93 a couple of times. A great sign. Amezega's shot was total fluke stuff. Inside black and he got lucky and turned on it. Plus, Duaner showed that fight we've been discussing. After almost getting drilled with the first pitch when he was up to sac bunt in the 10th (IIRC), he came back and layed down a PERFECT sac next pitch. Plus, he ran it out like he cared, and almost forced an errant throw.
3. Nice team-wide heart with a pair of comebacks in one game.

Looks like I may have to update my Tatis watch to point out how I suck..
It's inevitable that Tatis' numbers will come back down to earth soon, and my guess is he'll end up being the latest of the long string of "lightning in a bottle" moves by Omar. He's only had one really good year in his 10+ year career. That said, I think one thing I totally underestimated and overlooked when considering the impact of Tatis at the major league level is the raw hunger and desire. Someone like him is EXACTLY what this team needs right now. They need to see his drive and emotion to shake them out of their complacency and realize they are basically taking the game (and their automatic starts) for granted. Benching a lot of these underperformers to give some more hungry players a shot is long overdue, and definitely paying dividends.
I do hope they get Evans back to AA ASAP though, I don't think they're doing his development any favors the longer they keep him up here.
BTW, raysgeek and ray hey kids are now 2-0.
Even more BTW, looks like the Rays will continue to add to their young, top-quality arms. Their top draft pick in '07, Price, looked to be amazing in battling pedro yesterday.
Fear not. Tatis is due to resume sucking. Starting. Now.
