Wags agrees with me that it is ridiculous that big-name players on the Mets keep dodging the media while Wright is hung out to dry.
"You should be talking to the guys over there," he snapped to reporters in the clubhouse.
He apparently, according to The New York Times, then gestured toward the lockers of Carlos Beltran, Luis Castillo and, especially, Carlos Delgado.
"Oh, they're not there. Big shock," he said.
"David Wright is always there, the same guys are always there. But there needs to be other guys that are accountable. It gets a little old when the same people keep getting interviewed even when they don't participate."

Apparently his actual tirade was even more profanity laced, as well it should be. I'm sick and tired of Delgado and Beltran not being held responsible to be the leaders on this team and talk to the media. And what about Reyes for that matter? If wright can talk to the media everyday why not Reyes??
Please note that the "no habla ingles" option is malarkey. They speak well enough when they've had a 4 hit day, or as the Yankee fan here in my office says, when they want to explain their decision not to stand for the National Anthem.
I agree completely with Wags in substance. The continuing airing to the media is unhelpful, and a little chickens**t. Say it to Delgado and Beltran's faces. Maybe he's already doing it, and if so, leave it there.
Ultimately, this reflects poorly on Willie and his control over the clubhouse. Wags has a track record of not being "restrainable" anywhere he's gone, but Willie needs to get control of this situation, and quickly, or there's going to be a serious division in the clubhouse that saps the team's will to win.
Of course, maybe we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg, and that clubhouse division has been there for a year or more, and that is our explanation for the team playing +/- .500 ball despite much better talent.
Despite being an ardent admirer of Mr. Randolph, I think he's running out of time to right this ship...
The Post today had an article and a blog saying that Willie's support around the clubhouse is lukewarm at best. No one hates him, but no seems to love him either. he doesn't have a lot of defenders and could be on the hot seat.
As to Wags, I agree, and from some comments I read in one of the articles it sounded like he was going to have it behind closed doors with the team today, and address this point directly. I think the Mets ownership has been really doing Wright a huge disservice for the last year or two.
