Nice job Pelf. 95 pitches in 4 innings. Even for you that's a poor outing; you certainly picked a great time to regress.
Hopefully the Mets will keep Evans up long enough to ruin any shot he has of a good career in majors. Nothing like jumping from AA to majors in a tense situation.

Why do the Mets stink? Let's count the ways.
1. The Wilpons. As owners, their unwillingness to hold anyone accountable trickles down, such that no one in the organization is accountable. One WS appearance since 1986 is not acceptable.
2. Omar Minaya having WAY too much faith in old, injured players. Going into a season requiring large playing time from ALL of Duque, Pedro, Alou, Delgado, Castillo/Valentin is a recipe for disaster. To believe otherwise, Omar, is just sticking your head in the sand.
3. Omar/Willie's belief that Pelfrey is a legit starter. He is not. So it is now decision time: either you believe he eventually CAN become a legit starter, in which case send him to AAA, or you do not, in which case make plans to move him to 'pen.
4. Putting Gotay on waivers and getting nothing in return for him. This is inexcusable; how do you not trade Gotay, or make Braves give us something in return to claim him off waivers? (Unless I missed something, I'm unaware of getting anyone from Braves for Gotay.) Can someone explain this to me?
5. Not re-signing Bradford and Oliver. I will take this one to the grave with me.
6. Willie's poor use of bullpen.
7. Willie's unwillingness to force Reyes to work with HoJo to change his approach at the plate.
8. Willie's hands-off approach to a team that clearly is not amenable to this approach. With no PLD to tear ass in the dugout, it falls on Willie to get in the team's face and bark out some orders.
9. The Carloses. They stink, especially in clutch situations.
10. Mets trade Kazmir. Again, this is on Wilpons. As owners, try to have SOME knowledge about anything going on with your team.
Another way the Wilpons have failed: their silence. As management, it is on them to come out and make a statement one way or the other, for the fans and players. If you are backing Willie, then come out and SAY SO. They have to be among the most private owners out there, and quite simply that is not going to work in the largest media market in the world.
Post blog agrees, Wilpons' are completely blowing their responsibilities as owners on their handling of the Willie issue.
I've had a feeling for a while that the Mets decades-long lack of success is at a minimum being aided and abetted by the Wilpon(s). I based this on nothing more than the fact that "good" ownership would do better than one WS appearance (and no title) in 22 years; "good" ownership would take steps to avoid losing division title TO THE SAME TEAM for 14 years in a row; and "good" ownership would have created a farm/scouting/talent-evaluation system that would have produced and retained more than just TWO useful players (wright/reyes) in the last two decades.
