Reyes
Please, please, PLEASE rest Reyes at least a game or two. Why doesn't willie see that reyes is clearly drained and has nothing to give. His average is down, and he's now been picked off THREE times in as many games. Give the guy time off NOW.
Why Willie, why? Why do you insist on mocking me? Jose Reyes is out of gas, give him a breather!
It's ok to rest him. The guy has only missed one game all year, has seen the most at bats of anyone on the team, plays second most demanding position behind catcher, and has a ton of steals. It's not surprising that he could use some rest. Before he injures himself, give him a game or two off. His horrific average over the last two weeks is killing us.
OK. Just get back from my little vacation to tropical climes. Johnny Ola sends his regards.
Interesting theory on Jose. It makes as much sense as anything else. Can it really hurt to rest him a game or two (before the Braves series I don't think we could have afforded it, but with the lead back up to 5, OK)? I don't know who he'd use at SS. Gotay can't play his own position really well, Castillo's hobbling around like a gimp, Valentin's still on the DL. Did Anderson Hernandez get called up with the expanded rosters?
Not sure, but if the Mets don't have a plan for temporarily replacing Reyes (for rest or injury), they've got some problems. Anyone we stick in there is automatically a defensive downgrade (Reyes is #2 in entire MLB at SS in field % and fewest errors committed all season), but the guy needs a rest.
A-hern doesn't appear to be on expanded roster, but maybe he should be.
