Of course he's not, willie's never upset with anyone's effort. Too lazy to run down a fly ball? Too lazy to run out an infield hit? Too stupid at the plate to realize that with an 0-2 count and RISP and 2 outs now is not the time to be taking a big cut, but rather time to choke up and make contact? No problem, that's just player's "learning" on the job.
Here's a nugget: According to the Elias Sports Bureau, if the Mets blow what was a seven-game lead with 17 games to go, it would be unprecedented - no team has ever been up seven with 17 to play and not captured the division or league.
The Mets are a disgust right now and a mockery of the 3rd highest payroll in baseball, 1st in NL. They are somewhere between 4th and 7th in the NL in nearly every major batting and pitching category of significance. I strongly suggest they look to pick up some free agents or major trades with AL teams in the offseason to actually get some real talent (particularly pitching) on this team. I would also lay down the law on their hitting and batting approach and say either it changes (and say how), or else they will be riding the bench. Their inability to score runs against garbage, mediocre, over-the-hill or rookie NL pitching is an absolute joke. Except only the Phillies are laughing.

I'd have to post this to Willie & Omar: why did you allow the disaster that is the bullpen to continue for so long? By not swapping out Sele / Scho / Mota etc. sooner, they have now forced their hand, should they still make the playoffs. At least if they had brought Humber, Pelf, and Smith up sooner to work out of pen (or better yet made a trade at some point), you could feel more comfortable that you weren't simply throwing these guys to the wolves come October (at least more so for Humber, who hasn't had much MLB PT).
That said, I'd still swap all those three guys. Sele / Scho and Mota have a season of bad numbers to prove that they simply will not be good this year (if ever). Their ERAs and BAA are simply unavoidable and statistically significant at this point. At least with Pelf, Humber, and Smith, sure they might implode: but there's a chance they might be great. The same can't be said for the other three. When those guys come in everyone on the team is just waiting for the other shoe to drop, which makes bats and fielding that much tighter.
Quite honestly the issue here is that while Omar has done a great job overall evaluating talent in the past, he overstepped this year and was unwilling to make a mid-season correction. What's irritating to me is that all of the breakdowns we're seeing (except the errors which are just crap luck) were predictable to anyone watching the Mets closely. With an appropriate trade or two - as well as a big change in hitting approach and plate discipline - much of this could have been addressed.
