Houston, we have a problem...

Almost all sports articles have mentioned this by now, but it's worth repeating that Houston is the one NL team I do NOT want to see in a best-of-five (or any) playoff series. With Clemens, oswalt, and pettite, that would completely shut down our offense and we do not have pitching to match. Fortunately they are still 3.5 back in wild card with about 6-7 teams ahead of them, but you never know...

I'm not as scared of Houston as you. We've touched all 3 of those guys over the years, and the Houston bats have been dreadful this season. And as we saw this past weekend, their fielding isn't much to write home about either. Any team is capable of beating any other team, but I'd rather face that 'Stros than have Philly take the WC and end up playing the Dodgers in the first round.

I concur, fredo. The Mets have pounded these Astro starters numerous times (including this season) and El Duque manages to 1-hit the offense? No worries, mate.

Bring 'em on!

We haven't faced clemens or pettitte this year, I doubt we'd do well against clemens. A five game series has clemens, pettitte, and oswalt vs. pedro, glavine, and ??

Philly would be a tough draw in the 2nd round, they have played us as well as any other NL team.

nice to see trax walk in a run to make it 4-0. Mets fielding hasn't helped him any tonight, but i don't like the fact that it seems like they are planning on using him as #3 guy in playoff rotation..

Over the last three years, Oswalt is 0-3 with a 4.70 ERA against the Mets in 5 starts (guess his most recent start hasn't hit the splits yet). And those were against Met teams with a much weaker lineup than our current one.

As for Clemens, he's apparently injured:

"Roger Clemens was...forced out of his 15th start of the season with a strained right groin. The Astros said the 44-year-old right-hander is day-to-day."

No question, if the Astros 3 front line guys are healthy, they're not a team to be taken for granted. But we should be the prohibitive favorite regardless of our opponent. I don't want to hear any B.S. whining from the front office about "we got a bad draw" if we go out in the first round.

Oswalt is 2-0 against us this year, including the game on Sunday..

You're right about draw being irrelevant though - there is NO team that should be able to beat this Mets team in the NL. Even with our injuries, every team has injuries and is fighting through them, Mets should be no different.
