Glavine done for the year?

A real possibility.

Pedro/Duque/Trachsel/Maine as your playoff starters? Ouch. The AL must be breathing a sigh of relief today. Guess Bannister's getting his spot back.

Hopefully Glavine's ok, but that's a real longshot. He was finally being given run support this year, I'm sure it would be bitterly disappointing to him to end the season now.

Unfortunately, we knew this was a possibility.. The Mets pitching staff was overachieving, and the wheels could come off at any point. Pedro is perenially injured, and with Glavine's age anything's possible. Hopefully El Duque, Trax, and Pedro have enough in the tank to fight through playoffs. If Maine or Pelfrey can step up that would be awesome, but hard to know how they'll react to massive energy and pressure of playoffs. We definitely need to add a veteran arm in offseason..

here's a novel idea for an addition to the rotation--aaron freaking heilman.

as i once again stump for him, omar has added guiellrmo mota (thankfully after piazza passed through NY) and we've got another potential job opening. Heilman has thrived since he was given more responsibility and may slump again with the addition of more relief help.

i implore willie, GIVE THE KID A CHANCE!!!

I get the sense that the organization has determined Pelfrey is not ready and will not be on the post-season roster, no matter what.
