Another day, another solid outing for Maine. Guy looks to be legit.
It's been a long time since I've seen the Mets (or any team) have this many players batting this well. Between Reyes, Lo Duca, Beltran, Delgado, Chavez, and now possibly Green, that's a lot of tough outs in the lineup. Once Wright shakes out it will be scary. Let's hope it carries into post-season and doesn't dry up.

When you look at all the young, live arms in the organization, it's scary. Maine, Pelfrey, Heilman, Perez and Bannister. That could be 5 starters right there. Perez is still a bit of a wild card, and could probably use some more AAA time to iron out his command problems, but clearly has big-league talent. Given all the names above, I really wouldn't be surprised if Pedro was the only veteran starter who's brought back next year.
Then, there's another tier of rising pitchers just below those guys, including Humber, Mulvey, and perhaps Soler, of which one or two might turn into major league material.
Kind of reminds you of '83 and '84 when loads of young arms were coming up through Mets system, including Gooden, Darling, Fernandez, Aguilera, Orosco, Terrell, etc. I hope the kids get a chance next year, just like in the early 80's. Especially when we have Rick Peterson, who seems to excel with young pitchers.
By the way, SHK, way to steal the name of my blog and appropriate it for your screen name. Are you that hard up for creativity that you couldn't think up one name?
