Kho-say, kho-say, kho-say

Another night of no offense. How lucky are the few Mets fans who, in blissful ignorance, view these games as mere box scores. Those who don't have to watch each and every bad swing, taken strike, and zero-intensity response to failure.

Luckily, it looked like the Mets might string together a late game rally in the 8th, with one on, two-outs, and the top of the order coming up. A hit or a walk would bring the tying run to the plate with the heart of the order waiting in the wings. Instead, leadoff hitter, all-star, and nominal OBP expert Jose Reyes grounded out meekly. This capped his 0-for-4 effort and sunk the last real opportunity to get something going. In a close game where each AB could have changed the scope of the game, it made for an interesting counterpoint to the previous night, where after his first AB they were all essentially meaningless, so he padded his stats like Xavier Nady.

If there is any kind of upside to this third straight loss, it's the fact that Glavine had downright nasty stuff through 7 IP. For his second straight start, he's been very effective but has not gotten a W.

Some stats from the 3 games so far:

Avg R RBI LOB
Reyes .364 3 4 2
Lo Duca .182 0 0 2
Beltran .100 0 0 1
Delgado .111 0 0 4
Wright .111 0 0 1

Jose's runs may have been meaningless, but at least he's doing something! Not to mention, if el douche hadn't folded like a house of cards, maybe reyes's runs would've meant something..

Delgado in particular has got to find a way to snap out of this hideous extended downturn.

It is clear the Mets will get to playoffs, and most likely roll through to WS. But at this point I'm hard pressed to see how they win even one game in WS, unless a bunch of things get turned around.

And if you take out Reyes' Nady-like stat grab in game 2, his numbers in this series are:

.125 BA, 0 runs, 0 RBI, 2 LOB

Delgado's got to be dropped in the lineup. Have Wright hit 3 and Beltran hit 4, IMHO.

Ha, that's like saying if you take away all his hits, Jose is batting .000! I'd say: (1) at least he hit, and (2) anyone can have a Nady-like game, but only Nady made an entire first half out of it! The only reason those were Nady-like #s is because the rest of the team failed to do jack..

I think dropping Delgado to 5 hole is needed. To have Wright hitting as well as he is, but getting fewer plate appearances in 5 hole makes no sense. Also, it will give Wright a little more opportunity for RBIs since Reyes and lo duca have better OBP than delgado.

Looks like delgado's trying to break out of slump this game...
