Well played

Go ahead Mets, give yourselves a pat on the back. Good job all around. Way to stink it up for the best pitcher in baseball yet again.

A very special shout out to Jose. Your offense is atrocious, so the least you could do is not boot a slow roller up the middle that results in a 4 run inning instead of ending the inning.

Good thing we re-signed Ollie in the offseason instead of gambling on Lowe. Really dodged that bullet!

We did just win 7 in a row and are in first place, so despite the fact that last night blew chunks, it's not all bad...

I agree, but...

The problem is the trend and consistency. Johan getting no run support is going to cause us to lose at least 3-5 games a year we should win. In the ultra-tight NL east, that's huge.

The other thing is it still seems like the "same old mets." Jose making poor errors. Wright triple-clutching a throw to first and then short hopping it. (Granted, that was deep in the hole, but still.)

A bullpen that is still being overused and will be exhausted by September.

I'm looking for signs that we have made a real lasting change from last year, and we're not just going to go from 1st all season to choking down the stretch.

The last 3 years have really crushed my faith, joy and interest in this team, and I'd love to see that things are different to get me fired up again. I really used to look forward to every season, but I find myself catching the occasional game this year thinking, "so what?" They're just going to blow it down the stretch. Cynical view, undoubtedly, but hard to shake.
