To be honest, nothing made me happier than seeing the Phils lose in 3 straight. Not b/c I have anything against the Phils - at this point I actually like them, unlike Braves, Yanks, and BlowSox. But I'm glad it happened to shove it in the face of every single lazy Mets player who thought they should just be entitled to NL East title, and sleepwalked through the season. The fact that the Phils didn't make even the slightest noise in the playoffs should add some extra sting to the Mets disgust with themselves. Give them something extra to chew on in the offseason, and hopefully get them properly motivated, focused, and disciplined next season.
There is no reason the Mets should not have won 95 or more games this year, and run away with NL.
