An absolute monster of a game in 2 weeks on MNF, Dec. 6. Jets vs. Pats for AFC East. I was hoping the Colts would've shown more today and taken down the Hatriots - we really could've used that loss in their schedule. But Manning looked off all game, and Pats scored too much too early to overcome.
In other news, Mets apparently selected Terry Collins as manager.

I will tell you this much - that Mark Sanchez can run a 1 minute drill with the best of them and get it done. Not only did he have to quickly shake off and forget the pick he had just thrown on the previous possession, but he had to contend with only mediocre starting field position after the 15 yard penalty took away great field position.
That's 4 games in a row now. Should benefit them in the playoffs.
Actually 3 games in a row--don't forget the debacle against the Pack.
And let's look at those wins: 2 OT wins and a last second win against 3 bad teams. Factor in the squeaker against the Broncos and wins vs the Vikings, Bills, and Dolphins (all bad to awful teams) and the Jets have exactly 1 quality win this season.
Not promising for the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go 3-3 down the stretch (at best) and then get knocked out in the 1st round (2nd if they can pull off a bye).
DC-- not an unrealistic probability. However, karma and getting hot at the right time go a long effing way in the NFL playfoffs (check out AZ 3 yrs ago, Giants two years ago, etc.).
Where I think your analysis is right comes down to the next 5 weeks. You'll know what you have by the time we welcome Buffalo wk 16. With away games in NE, Pitt and Chicago, in December no less, they'll be no guessing about whether this team is playoff ready or not.
And btw, were we to go 1-2 or 2-1 in those games, not shame there, b/c Pitt and NE are as good as the competition gets in the AFC this year. Going 0-3 would be the only real argument I could see that this team "can't" or "is not ready" to take on top tier talent.
Don't forget, 9-2 could have easily been 10-1 just as easily as 6-5 given that we should have beat Baltimore week 1.
Tough to dog a team tied for the best record in league, even if no one is ready to proclaim the "best" team in the league just yet. They can't be out of the conversation though.
BTW, the football gods love me. Thanksgiving day parade two days before the saturday I leave for hunting. Then I come back Sunday and the next Jets game is MNF. No Jets games the whole 9 days (Sat-Sun) I'm up there.
Here's the reason Jets will be in any game: their D. When you have a D as good as Jets you will always be within one TD of any game.
The offense has clearly underperformed given the level of talent, but I wouldn't bet against Santonio, Braylon, LT, Keller, huge O line, etc. If Schott would get his head out of his ass and realize that the Brad Smith "Seminole" is ONLY useful if you actually let the guy throw once in a while to keep defenses honest, you'd have another deadly option.
While the Jets haven't put together many solid 60 minute games this year, neither has any other team. This is a weird season where no team has been solid every game. I watch a lot of Pats games and to be honest they have a lot of weaknesses. I don't know why other teams can't figure them out.

Prediction: Brad Smith will throw in Pats game, probably the first time he's brought in. I'm guessing deep bomb to Braylon or Santonio.
