Beltran

Shocker, Beltran is pissed at the Mets and will likely put himself first, and the team a distant second. So for all the excitement generated about how good Reyes is looking, this should dampen that enthusiasm about the Mets chances this year.

When might Carlos Beltran get on a major league field? Beltran is furious with the Mets and how they have publicly handled his surgery. He wonders if he should have been playing last year (in other words, was he properly diagnosed?). More important, he pushed to initially play in pain and then rush back in a lost season.

The Mets probably should not expect Beltran to prioritize the team this time around. He turns 33 in April. His contract walk year is 2011. So I expect that Beltran will take care of No. 1 and make sure he does not do anything to hurt himself for a 2011 salary-drive season.

This season is shaping up to be a dung pile of the highest magnitude.

M.....E.....T.....S..... Are Jokes Jokes Jokes. Giants stunk this year. Rangers aren't lookin much better. And now all I have to look forward to is the Hapless mets who can't seem to get out of there own ways. As soon as there is the slightest think to actually bring a smallest amount of Joy ( Figgy's well pitched game or F mart actually lookin like a Major Leaguer) then this comes out. I think the only reason they wanted a third opinion on Beltrans knee was so they could be wrong 66% instead of now being only 50% wrong. So freakin sickining. Gotta start real thinkin of Pullin a Fredo in baseball like he did in hockey...yech

There's safety in numbers, Beetz. I know D.C. keeps telling me he wants to switch it up...

Here's an idea...

We could have a vote at the beginning of each season whether we're going to be Mets, Yankees, Cyclones, or Ducks fans. Team ownership better start prioritizing fans if they want our ticket purchases...

I did a good job pulling a Fredo for college hoops earlier this season, abandoning the Johnnies for 'Nova. Honorable mention to 'cuse because I've always had enormous respect for boeheim.

Can always get behind the Ducks cause A) get to head East instead of west. 2) ticket prices are well within reason III) last Ducks game I went to with 2 outs in the Ninth there was a bench clearing brawl where the Police were called in. SWEET

You went to the game with 2 outs in the 9th? You need to value the dollar a little harder, Beetz.

Tru but that last out took just under an hour and boy was it fun especially since there was no John Rocker at the time

I don't remember ever suggesting that I want "to switch it up"--in fact, I was getting the feeling that I'd be the last one standing on the deck of the Titanic after everyone else hit the lifeboats.

But if we're abandoning ship, there's no way in hell I'm becoming a Yankee fan. I'd rather give up on baseball in its entirety.

I'll keep the Mets love strong (hey, someone's gotta) and still root for the Sox (if only to irk Yankee fans) but if I've gotta choose a new team I've gotta put some thought into it.

I like some AL teams but hate the league in principle so that chops things in half. Won't support another NLE squad (well--possibly the Nats, but why bother).

The NLW is a bunch of has-been and wanna-be franchises so that leaves the NLC. I like the Cubs as a franchise but hate most of the current roster (and they're almost as inept as the Mets anyway). Bears to the Astros and Reds. Pirates have no future (but are kinda cool) so it looks like it comes down to the Brew Crew or the Cards.

St. Louis is hard to argue against--great history, awesome fan base, solid roster (Pujols will be one of the all-time greats).

But I may have to go with the Brewers--good roster, creative GM, awesome mascot, and the ultimate blue-collar vibe.

Who's with me?

I hate to say it but I could easily get behind the Phillies. I love their attitude and approach to the game. At least they actually seem like they want to play and win.

Phu--ing traitor...

First. Bears to you SHK. No way in hell you can pull for Fillies if your a disgruntaled mets fan unless you are doin it to spite the mets. And can't pull for the crew either cause ever since they replaced the giant beer that burney used to slide down when the hit a home run. How can you get all PC about sliding down a big beer when your team is named THE F ing Brewers.

So that leaves the Cards?

I'm not quite sure why I don't hate the Philthies. I hate los bravos, hate the yanks, hate the blo sox. Same for pats, UConn and G'town.

But how do you not like Howard, Utley and Victorino? I could even get behind Rollins, d-bag that he is. Someone needed to call the Mets out for the absurd collapses they had.

Aw, I set the pot stirring now...

I don't know, D.C., I could swear I remember you saying you'd start wearing pinstripes if the Mets don't sign Joel Piniero...

dark commenteer said...

That was CLEARLY someone else--I was against the Pineiro idea.

I wanted Sheets and Bedard on incentive-laden deals.

Maybe it was Beetz...or maybe Caribou is ready to jump back onto the Yankee bandwagon...

Take it easy DC. No way in H E double hockey sticks would I ever become a fan of the Jankeys. Much less an American league team. But I'm with Fredo the only thing that kept you a meta fan was Gary Mathews Jr. For this season atleast. Also if it comes to become the Titanic like we all think I could consider the Rockies. Maybe

Fredo said...

OK, DC, if not Piniero, maybe it was you'd buy an A Rod jersey if the Mets didn't sign R.A. Dickey and Josh Fogg.

Guess you got lucky. Or--wait for it--unlucky?
