Cowher = Jets

Cowher is looking like a strong possibility for next Jets coach. He wants to coach in NY area, be near his daughter (Princeton), and Jets are willing to shift Tannenbaum to accommodate his request to have his own personnel manager.

Good move I say.

And DC, we could end up taking Parcells as well...

Hey, Tuna already put the right people in place. And you're not gonna get both guys--neither will give up enough of their power to satisfy the other.

Well, Cowher's out apparently..

He's out and I'm glad. While I like tough guy coaches in the NFL (Tuna, Coughlin, Ditka), a Cowher hire had disaster written all over it.

He's never been a great in-game tactician, and more importantly, has been a big fish in a small pond for 15 years. He bullied local media and surrounded himself with yes-men. I guy like that gets chewed up in NY.

I'm much more upbeat about the possibility of Mike Shanahan. Plus, with Shanahan, you get the added kicker of probably getting an inside shot at Cutler when his contract's up.

Was also glad to see the Browns might pick up Mangini. Always liked that guy. Classy. And how many Jets coaches actually left with more winning than losing seasons?
