Mets sign K Rod

At a reasonable 3 yr, $12M per rate. Way down from his initial asking price.

Yet again, Omar targets a high profile FA, and manages to land him.

I know there is some mixed opinion as to his strategy, but his execution continues to be solid.

Great signing, will help us enormously. I'll give credit to Omar for recognizing the collapsing market for what it is and making sure to go way down from initial talk by K-rod's agent of $75 M. That said, the relatively cheap signing had more to do with the fact that Omar had no competition. The main teams with deep enough pockets to compete with us fortunately are all already set at closer, especially Yanks and Sox.

Best deal by Omar to date is Johan, not just in terms of his impact but how little we gave up in return. That was very well played.
