Pshew!

Was it just me, or was that whole rigamarole a little too close to the wire for comfort?

Gotta admit, I got a touch of the SHK's thinking that the Mets would botch the contract and cause the deal to fall through...

Sorry to threadjack, but i just have to give a nice big "attaboy" to Chris Russo for his solid S.B. predicition: Pats 49, Giants 7

What... A.... D-bag.

BTW, if one more incident of spygate is found (and at least one seems to exist in rams-pats superbowl), belichick is gone for A YEAR. See ya!

For Johan, I was 99% confident they would sign him. I heard when he gave a list to Twins several months ago Mets were #1 on the list; we were his first choice. If Johan didn't sign this deal, he basically would have to test the waters again next year as a free agent. But even then, how much more would he have gotten? Yanks are already stretched to the limit at $200 M, and BlowSox probably don't want to go much higher than the $150-160 M they're at. My guess is that his agent (who also reps chavez and reyes, another key point) told him to expect best pitcher contract in all of MLB, but not by a ton.

Props to Omar, he really nailed this one. Especially when you consider that haren and bedard were off the market, and we had the fewest prospects to offer and were completely unwilling to trade reyes/wright/b-tran.
