So far through top 11 Mets have solidly answered my last blog, by showing me more of that steaming pile they call an offense. Yet another outstanding effort by Glavine wasted. All your hopes and dreams - gone.... down the drain.

Well, I'll agree with Willie 100% - I don't think it's a rut. I think it's far worse than that - it's symptomatic of the Mets approach at the plate. They always seem to think that Beltran or Delgado or Wright HR will save them, so no need to single in a few runs when you've got a chance. Go for broke, and when you fail miserably worry about it later. Since the Mets talent is so much better than 95% of NL, that's fine in most regular season games. But as soon as they face legitimate competition, their "approach" falls apart and they take the L. I think we're a lock to win NL East (and if not, certainly the wild card), but I'm not sure we make much noise in playoffs.
The irony is that if you could ratio how many runs a team should have (based on talent on paper) vs. how many it actually has, we can't be doing that well. We're now 4th in NL in runs scored, and critically, 4th in our specific division behind phils, marlins, and braves. That's ridiculous.
Tonight's game against Eaton will be quite telling. According to ESPN he owns us, even though he blows big time against everyone else.
Despite all the problems Adam Eaton has had this season, he has remained strong against the New York Mets.
Eaton looks to stay undefeated against the Mets as he takes the mound for the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night in the middle game of the teams' series.
The right-hander has struggled this season, but especially lately. Eaton (5-4, 6.28 ERA) is 1-1 with a 10.13 ERA in his last two starts, and has yielded five or more runs in four of his 11 starts.
Eaton, however, has been dominant against the Mets in his career, posting a 1.65 ERA en route to winning all four of his starts. He faced New York on April 11, allowing two runs and four hits while striking out five in seven innings as Philadelphia won 5-2.
Excellent, exactly as I thought. Eaton chewed up and spit out our lineup, making a complete mockery of this team. 0 for 8 with RISP. What a joke.
NL east looking less and less likely if we can't beat braves or phils.
