Baby Blue Champs

It's nauseating to watch. Really.

On the flip, I've got to hand it to Ol' "Gaddumit" Roy. His team peaked at the right time and obliterated the opposition. They didn't face any real game pressure in the entire tourney.

I should point out that between Duke and UNC, there have now been 6 titles (3 each) in the last 18 years, a full 1/3 of the years.

That should pretty much lay to rest "best rivalry in college sports". Michigan-Ohio State football (1.5 national championships in the same period), Alabama-Auburn football (1 N.C.), or any other rivalries don't even come close to that.

I will hand it UF though. 2 football N.C.s and 2 basketball N.C.s since 2006 makes for it's own great rivalry between the two programs.

P.S. Big East teams in the final game: 0. In "the greatest year for any conference. Ever."

Big East was still the best conference this year, hands down.

After all, UNC had a nice cake walk all season playing in that pansy ACC. They didn't get beat up at all and were able to coast into the tournament at full power.

And their title is kinda like the Giants winning the '08 Super Bowl--granted they were the champs but the AFC clearly had dominance.

This is what happens when you get a one-game championship (which is the way it should be--gives the underdog a legit shot).

Hats off to the Heels though for a helluva season and for smashing in the faces of those MSU losers (watching them play is like watching hippos try to hula hoop--just damn ugly).

After all, I did pick UNC to win in the pool...

Ummmm....

Bitter a bit about reality, are we?

Say what you want about conference vs. conference this year (after all, I've already conceded the Big East had the better season overall). But UNC didn't just win this tourney. they pulverized every team they played. They could've beat every team in the Big East on any court at any time. UConn was overrated this year, particularly after they lost their point guard. Syracuse and Nova overachieved. Pitt was probably the best of the bunch, but underachieved as always in the tourney. One day Dix will get to the Final Four, he sure does deserve it.

And yet in a good year for the Big East, it is the ACC that continues to pad their dominating stats in the NCAAs.
