Season on the line, destiny in their own hands, a game against a far inferior opponent, and... a loss. Of course. Except it wasn't the Mets stinking it up yesterday, it was the Jests.
For a team that has the most pro-bowl players in the NFL they surely are making a mockery of that accolade.
My thoughts. First, Matt Cassell better be a NYJ next year. The Jets will not be able to draft or trade for a better QB, so grab the free agent. He will not want to be a backup to Brady, he is EASY pickins'. Second, Jets better draft a good linebacker and receiver with speed. Third, offensive coordinator Schottenheimer better be gone by the Jets tee time next Monday the 29th. This guy's play calls have baffled me for two straight years. Fourth, if the Jets make the playoffs I'd say give Mangini another year to prove himself. If they don't, he's out.

It's gonna be soooo sweet when Chad brings the karma hammer down on the Jets this Sunday--go Fins!!!
All I know is at least if the Jets don't make playoffs, I hope they and Baltimore make it so that the Pats don't either. That's basically what I'm reduced to.
I find it interesting that people are so focused on two Mangina calls yesterday: the decision to go for FG on 4th early in first quarter, and the decision to go for it on 4th down late in 4th quarter. Focusing on those two plays misses the point entirely.
The point is that the Jets, like the Mets, NEVER should have been in a situation where those plays mattered. This season was lost with losses to Oakland, San Fran, and of course Seattle. Those were all games we should have won, or at least 2 of the 3, and the Seattle game never should have come down to such specific plays. The Jets have failed to win games they should have won, have shown no consistency, and that is the issue. That is why I question the ability of Mangini and Schottenheimer.
