Here we go again, time for another NFL season. I'm excited, not just because of the way the Jets played last season, but because it means we can switch this site over to NFL and away from the Mutts.
I do have to say that not having Faneca and Feely are big, underrated losses. The Jets are built to have low-scoring games, decided by field goals. I just don't trust Folk. And of course losing Pace for the first 4 games, and Revis possibly for the season, makes things that much more questionable.
Nonetheless I am very excited for Jets football to get underway.

Good news/bad news. Revis is signed and ready to go. But Jets continued their trend of releasing proving vets, the latest being solid FB richardson. What's more galling is that they possibly plan to re-sign him after week 1, just so they can get his $850K contract turned into non-guaranteed money.
I don't think Johnson/Tannenbaum seem to get that at some point ripping apart team morale and removing locker room leaders is a massive negative. For a team that plans to make a real run at the SB this year, they are surely making a lot of questionable personnel decisions.
Young man's game. Richardson will prob be back but not the starter. Sounds like that's Connor's job w all the raves.
To me the only questions that will matter this year are:
1) Will Green be able to fill in for Jones? homes put up massive stats the last two year. With as much as the offense likes to run and control the clock, the RB needs to b durable. Jones was. Green has been subject to the injury bug. If he stays healthy, I think the backfield will be fine. If not, big problems.
2) How good will Sanchez be?
The difference between 7 wins and 12 is wrapped up in those 2 questions.
Better news. Not only is Connor's supposedly a beast, but Richardson is back. We could use veteran support and solid locker room influences.
I wish the Ravens game was tonight - Jets team is fired up today.
I agree with your two points Fredo - this team will definitely go as Greene and Sanchez go. No question the D will be solid, we're solid at receiver, tight end and O-line (although we will feel the loss of Faneca). That said, I would also say this team will be very dependent on how well Folk plays.
Also Gents don't forget about your wide receiver that has to sit out the first 4. As Sanchize is one key component its gonna hurt more
Week 1 scorecard on my two main components:
1. Sanchez: F
2. Green: D
Two main variables sucking (if it were to continue all season) means the Jetties would be at the low end of my predicted win total: 7-ish.
I agree with Greene. But I give the coaching staff an F instead of Sanchez. If they give him a chance to throw the ball then he will. If they give him ghost busting things to do then he'd be good ghost buster
Sanchez is chicken S.
A bunch of their plays were designed to go downfield but he constantly checks down because he's scared to throw INT's. As a result, they get a 3 yd completion or he takes a sack (due to his lack of sack).
Man up, nancy.
Green is clearly no Thomas Jones and is much better as a change of pace type back.
And I like the way they hid the "best defender in the NFL" by putting him on Derrick Mason instead of Boldin, who only proceeded to destroy Cromartie and Wilson. But at least Revis's stats still look nice...
I guess Sanchez got DC's memo and decided to man up.

Suck it Pats. Sanchez, LT, Braylon, Greene and the rest of the O looked great today. D was very solid considering injury to Revis, no Jenkins for season, Pace still out and in-game injury to Taylor.
It surely will be nice to get Holmes back in two weeks, and Pace soon.
Jets-Fish in the barrio next week, for 1st place. Should be fun. Fish get an early choke hold on 1st or Jets take the lead by a tiebreak.
Uh oh. B. Edwards got arrested for DWI this morning.
Ha just heard the Jets described as the Oakland Raiders East Coast. As Nelson so elequintly put it "ha ha"
Well, kinda like Oakland, but more circa the 70s and 80s when they used to be in first place. Unlike some other NY football teams I can think of.
BTW, getting back to the 2 main variables.
Sanchez now has a QB rating north of 100. Not surprisingly, we've won the two last games.
Green's performance has been somewhat mitigated by the fact that LT is clearly 1A to Green's 1B, and not merely a change-of-pace back as we might have expected in the preseason. The way LT is running, it's tough to argue that the offense can continue to be productive.
But can 30-something LT, with tons of mileage on his frame, be productive in December if he's running this much early?
I will tell you this - we're going to learn a lot about this team Sunday against the Bills. This is a game that they completely blew last year, and any legit contender needs to win.
I am convinced the Jets have the tools to compete with any NFL team; we've seen that in their first 3 games. But what separates the division winners from the wild cards is the teams that beat the opponents they are supposed to beat. If the Jets want to win the AFC East this year, the Bills are the type of team they need to beat (and not just b/c they are a division rival).
