Well, unfortunately it had to come to an end, but I'm very pleased with what I saw from the Jets this season under Ryan. As young as this team is, they have a lot of good years ahead of them, and I look forward to supplanting the Patsies. Sanchez and Greene have huge upsides and great rookie seasons to start from.
Looking to next year, the only two areas that I think could use help are the secondary and a true pass-rushing lineman. While Revis is lights out, his value is slightly diminished by the fact that the rest of the secondary is questionable. I grew weary of watching the rest of the guys get burned any time we played against a good QB. Either a better CB or safety is in order.
Fredo, what do you think of trying to trade Kris Jenkins? I don't think Pouha is so much of a step down that it's worth keeping Jenkins if we can get something good in return (player or draft picks). Jenkins can't have more than one good season left in him anyway.

Don't know what the market would bear for Jenkins. If you're bringing back that is an upgrade in one of the areas you mentioned (pass rush/DB), sure.
My guess is you won't get that for a guy who is clearly at the tail end. I'd probably rather have him then unload him on the cheap.
Do you bring back Thomas Jones?
BTW, I'm dying to know, did you watch it together or separately?

Wasn't always the case, DC. He used to be the groundhog for the Jetties also. Ask him about the Kotite hire sometime.

1. I'd bring back Jones for a couple of reasons. I think he has the right mental focus that could be helpful in continuing the maturation of Greene. Also, we have no idea if Leon will ever be the same player again after that injury. Plus, Jones still had a big season.
2. Agreed on Jenkins, we'd need to get an upgrade at pass rush or DB to make it worthwhile to us.
3. Watched it together. It was ok for the most part. Would've been better if Coleman had done his job and tipped that pass away from Collie right before half so Colts wouldn't have scored.
4. For DC, Jets vs. Mets is no contest. I've been up on the Mets forever, but the last 3 years have been too much. The shoddy style in which this team is run, from Wilpon down, is disgusting, especially considering the amount of payroll they waste. I could have assembled a better team than Omar given the same blank check over the past 4-5 years. In contrast, the Jets have been making incredible draft and trade decisions, and are playing their asses off in every game. They are making sensible decisions.
Most importantly though, as I mentioned in a blog many months ago, the players on the Mets by and large no longer comprise a group I even care about or want to root for. They mostly mail it in and underperform. They keep making stupid plays, stupid coaching decisions, and stupid medical decisions. This team has become the mockery of MLB, and rightly so.
In contrast the Jets are continuously trying to compete, addressing mistakes and making upgrades. They have a lot of players I can get excited about, and they play hard.
It will take a miraculous 2010 season or replacement of Minaya / Manuel for me to get excited about Mets again.
The decision to keep Manuel has already destined 2010 to be a failure. When a team "unravels", and loses their fight, it's tough to put it back together. Think of the Mets at the end of the Davey era. Still had a lot of talent, which was replaced with other high $ talent. But the team had no cohesiveness, and no fight. That's kind of where this squad looks to be, from my vantage point. Couple that with declining ticket sales, an owner who's hurting financially, and several core players who broke down (Delgado, Perez) or may be breaking down (Beltran, Reyes, Maine, Santana(we'll see today)), and the future's so dark I gotta wear a helmetlight.
Not to mention we're starting 2010 with Beltran out, and a lot of unknown recoveries from injuries last year (Delgado, Reyes, Santana, etc.)
